"Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do:  forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal of the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Sovereign Grace Community Church believes wholeheartedly that the Holy Bible itself is the sole and final source of all that we believe. We further accept and adopt as our Statement of Faith The New Hampshire Confession of Faith of 1833.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Whereas we, the members of Sovereign Grace Community Church of the Yampa Valley, having searched the Scriptures under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, have recognized the need to constitute ourselves in order to closely conform to the will of God for the church in this age and prepare ourselves for greater efforts in the name of Christ.

Sovereign Grace Community Church exists to exalt Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, to equip the saints for the work of the ministry and to evangelize the lost. (Matthew 22:36-40; Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8)

This Church exists by the grace of God, for the glory of God, which shall be the ultimate purpose in all its activities (Eph. 2:8-10; Psalm 8:1).

This Church glorifies God by loving Him and obeying His commands (John 15:10) by:

  • Worshiping Him through being “a living sacrifice” (Rom. 12:1-2)

  • Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ through following the teaching of the Bible; encouraging, supporting, and participating in mission work (Matthew 28:18-20).

  • Equipping the saints through Biblical instruction and study (Eph. 4:11-12).

  • Administering the ordinances of baptism and communion (Matthew 3:13-17; 1 Cor. 11:17-34)

  • Encouraging Biblical fellowship among believers (Hebrews 10:24-25).

  • Nurturing the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of members, individuals, families, and churches in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:42-47; James 2:27); and

  • Encouraging fellow churches to faithfulness through instruction and study about the Biblical role of the church (Acts 2:42).

The work of Sovereign Grace Community Church

is entirely dependent upon the prayers, personal

services, and voluntary gifts of its members.
